I should not be allowed in craft stores alone!

I'm sure I'm not alone in this, but I should not be allowed in craft store unsupervised...ok maybe I should.  Anyway I had to go find some bobby pins to finish an order for an amazing friend at work.
I went into Michaels and showed great restraint, at least I thought so.  They had so many of their jewelry supplies ON SALE!!! 50% OFF!!!  and I walked away because they didn't have what I needed.  So sad, really.  So then I went to JoAnnes and found these!

While I was there (and here comes the unsupervised part) I found these cute kits!

Not on sale!  However they looked so fun!  Now I've made the flower bracelets/watchbands, but I wanted to try this one and it had everything in one spot.  My box was open and the instructions were missing so I had to wing it, but check out everything it had with it.

and this is how my Non instruction version turned out.
Not to bad right!

Now for the zipper flowers! The kit includes enough stuff to make 6 different flowers, 3 small and 3 large.  You can make them pins or clips.  If you can't tell I'm a little excited about this one.  Check out everything that comes with it!  Sooo much stuff to play with!

By the time I got done playing (and realizing that I am way to old to sit on the floor that long) I finished Three  of my flowers!  So far these are all pins, I'm sure I will make the others very soon. (once my back forgives me haha)

I think they are pretty cute.  How about all of you?

So if you ever think that you want to give something a try....but don't want to buy ALL the stuff to find out you just don't like it...look for some of these little kits! You might just find a new obsession, at least until the next one pops up.

Thanks for looking!

More hair crap!! Flower bobby pins!

I made some flowers and wasn't sure what to do with them.  One I turned into a small wrist band for my granddaughter Dez. Another I used as a matching headband.  (I didn't get pictures :( I was still waiting to have enough money for my new camera, trying to take pictures with my phone just wasn't working. Now I finally have my new camera and can post again!

So anyway what I finally decided to do with these is make bobby pins!

What you need to make these cute little creations is:

A bag of flower parts used for scrapbooking.  I got mine at Roberts for about 7.00.

Just look at all the cute colors in this bag!  Some have glitter some don't.  so many different sizes and colors. Some bags have patterned flowers like zebra strips, polka dots, and more.

Anyway once you have your bag of flowers then you just grab some decorative brads (also for scrap-booking)

Also grab some bobby pins that have the flat circle to glue things to, I found these at hobby Lobby.  A bag of 18 is around $3.

Start layering your flower parts in what order and color you like and put one of your brads through the middle (they already have small holes cut in them just for the brads) and them glue them to the bobby pins!  That's it and you have a whole bunch of cute and unique flowers!

So what do you all think?

Purses!

Okay so we all know that I have crafters ADD! I can't help it, I think we all have a little ADD in some area, all of mine just seem to overlap. haha  Anyway, I found this adorable free tutorial on one the blogs I follow (sadly I suffer CRS and can't remember which one) for this cute little purse. This lady is awsome! You can check out her etsy page here and see some of the other patterns that she sells.

So I had to start playing around
don't you love the robots!
This was my first draft.  It's so much fun, however I can't leave anything alone.   So I started making some modifications to this cute little bag.
tie-die butterflies and peace signs!  Who doesn't love peace signs, I mean come on really it's a win win right?
So I messed with the dimensions just a little and made it wider.  Added some yo-yo's and buttons to the front for decoration.

haha I wish I had a better camera so that you could really see all the cool bright colors (hint, hint to all my family and friends)

I didn't like how wide the strap was or how it was just sewn into the sides, so I added some "D" rings and narrowed down the strap by about half.

My cute daughter being my model!  She's such a good sport.
So what do you think?  Thanks for looking! And on to the next ADD project for my house...LOL

HATS!!!!!!!

Ok I bought a couple cheap bad hair day hats at Walmart for 2.00.  I know I'm cheap. but hey what ever  it's for bad hair days right.
this is the pink one, hahaha my friends know I'm not a pink kind of girl.
Anyway, then I remembered that I still had iron on vinyl from the fabulous Expressions Vinyl people (I love them!).  So then I decided to play a little.

My black hat went from a plain black like the above pink one to this!!!!!
I even added bling!  I'm becoming quite the girl in my old age LOL.

What do you think?  I love my SCAL and cricket.  It even looks pretty good on (even though I wish I had a better model).
I know I'm a dork

Anyone have any request?  I'll see what I can do.  Thanks for looking!

T-Shirts for Trinity Mission

Ok, I know that I've been MIA for a while now.  I recently moved and now that I have, somewhat, found all of my craft stuff.  My adorable daughter gave me a job!  She is the manager over the kitchen at Trinity Mission and has a staff of about 11.  (I could be wrong)  She needed t-shirts for her employees to wear, so when she started looking for companies to make them, I reminded her that she can always use her mother.  hint hint wink wink  I mean Hello isn't that what children do?

Any way long story short, I completed her order and she took them to work today.  Now for the scary part....will they actually like them....

The front of the t-shirt

The back (obviously)

and again the front with an added bonus of my beautiful daughter, and granddaughter as my models :)  Sorry it's sideways...I thought I had it rotated before I loaded.

The first of many new projects to come!  I plan on making a few more shirts very soon and can't wait to unveil them to everyone!

Thanks for looking!

Sorry it's been a while

Hello, sorry it's been a while between posts.  I feel like I have been neglecting a friend and I don't like it.  I've been moving, plus I've had my laptop stolen about a month ago.  I do plan on getting back on track very soon with my blog and my crafters ADD I have seen several ideas that I would love to try and share with everyone.  Happy crafting and I hope you are all enjoying your summer!  Thanks for looking!

Farmers Market

So today was the Farmers Market.  It was pretty fun!  Definitely a learning moment.  I found out that I need to have bigger and more onesies, people still like the bottle cap necklaces and none of the flowers sold......So I have my work cut out for me next week to make sure that my displays are up and that I have more shirts in different sizes.  So soon to come I will be making some 4th of July shirts, along with some cute boys ones.  Here's a hint, can we say "Mudd Buddies".

Here are some pics of my booth.  Let me know what you think.

Onesies

So here I am again trying to be creative, I found an Idea for a flower watch that you first adhere iron on backing to fabric and then you can cut it on your cricut.  As you can see that is not the title of my post, so I obviously couldn't get it to look right.  However on a happy note, I have now figured out how to use my cricut to make applicate for clothes or bibs whatever you like!  I'm soooo excited about the possibilities!  In my boredom and trying to make sure that the materials I had just bought don't go to waist...I put together the following onesies.  I have been asked if I'm going to make them and offer them in the farmer's market.  What do you think? Would they sell?  Not to mention the fact that these are so cute to make for grand-babies.
Beach Baby!!!!!! $5.00

Blue Sunflower!!!!!! $5.00

Flower Clips and Headbands

Ok so I admit it I have crafters ADD.  I can never just stick to one thing, even though I continue on will everything I do.  I tend to add a million things into the full cycle of crafting.  I never thought I would be one of the people who would want to cover a little girls head in huge flowers, but again I have found so many patterns that I just can't help myself.  My poor granddaughter is going to be covered in flowers and tutu's when she is born in June. hahahahaha

Any way I wanted to share what I have found by doing a simple internet search for fabric flowers you are directed to so many amazing blogs with directions.  I wish I would have wrote them down so that I could give these incredibly talented people the credit they deserve.  A mental note for next time.
these flowers measure about 3" diameter and can be used for so many things

silk flower hair clips

Orange and green headband

yellow head band.  I'm not sure what to name this flower.
Thanks for looking!  I have had a lot of fun with these and hope you do to.

Yard Sale Event!!!!!

Ok so the place that my adorable daughter works at is going to have a public yard sale and I am going to have a table there!  My first real sales event!  They have opened the sale to different people in the public so I'm going to assume that means there will be all sorts of things there to look at.  Anything from traditional yard sale items to handmade crafts like mine.  I'm so excited!

I almost forgot to mention that a large portion of the proceeds of what I sale will be going to help benefit my son Ben.  For those who don't know he is 20 years old and was diagnosed with stage IIa Testicular Cancer at the beginning of this month.  We have already had surgery and we will be starting his Chemotherapy treatments on May 2.  He has not been able to work and will not be able to go in much until this is all over.  He will have to go through 4, 3 week cycles of Chemo. So as a good mom, I am trying to use my talents to help raise money to cover his medical bills.  I will have most of my jewelry there for sale.

Come support an amazing place that helps so many people that need it.

So all of the info is as follows:
Place:

Trinity Mission Health and Rehab of Provo

1053 West 1020 South
(801) 373-2630

Yard sale will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On May 14, 2011

Hope to see you there!

Glass Jars

Who doesn't like cool funky glass jars? Especially when you get to decorate them and make them even cooler!  Ok at least I think they are pretty cool.

This first one I admit I used an SVG file from Michelle's adventures with digital creations blog.  I just fell in love with her garden fairy and had to figure out some way to use it.

   Michelle's Adventures with Digital Creations.

These cute little swirly birds I also found by following a link through Michelle's blog.  I love the files that people are willing to share with all of us beginners.  I can't wait until I can create my own to share as well.

Here I have them both together. Pink and Purple go so well together, don't you think.

Well I hope you all have enjoyed my spur of the moment craft idea.  I hope I have given a few more ideas as to what to do with some of the decorative glass hanging around your house.  That is assuming that there are more pack rats out there like me. (at least when it comes to random craft things)  Enjoy and thank you for looking.

50th Anniversary Present

So I am going to talk about some happy stuff.  All can not be doom and gloom or one will simply go crazy.  Or make the people around us crazy.  Ha Ha  Anyway, I was hired to create something for my ex-in-law's for their 50th anniversary.  What I came up with was a beautiful large glass block with their photo on the back side of it along with two wine glasses.  I had so much fun making these and it was such an honor to be asked to make such a memorable gift for such an amazing occasion.  I hope that they enjoy it as much as I did making it.

Update on Ben

UPDATE: May 3, 2011

So I just wanted to give an update, Ben started Chemotherapy yesterday.  He will have to do 4 cycles of three weeks.  The first week he will be doing Chemo everyday, and then get to take a break for two weeks before he gets blasted again.  His dad and I went with him yesterday, and it seems pretty chill.  The people that work there are such special and great people.  They make sure that everyone is comfortable and feel at home.  At least as much as you can in a clinic with tubes attached to you.  You meet some of the sweetest people.  So far so good, he's a little tired but doing okay.

Thanks for looking and reading my blog.

___________________________________________________________________________________

So I decided I better give an update on Benjie. We were told on Friday that he has embryonal Cancer, a nonseminoma type. We will be going to the Dr. next week to decide what our next course of action is.  Our choices where 1)to start Chemotherapy first then possibly a second surgery to remove the affected lymph nodes or 2) Surgery first then chemo.  Doesn't seem like much of a choice right.  He seems to be staying in good spirits.  That always makes us smile.  He needs to look into the the option of sperm banking just in case these treatments leave him sterel.  I can only imagine how bad that would be for him.  I thank God every day that we were bless with little Mr. Leo, however I know how much Ben would love to be able to have more children latter on in life.

I'm sure that this is much more info than most people would want to know about someone, however I find it interesting to get all of the info.  Then you don't end up having just a ton more questions with no answers.

I am still making my necklaces to sell for him, I just need to add pics, along with a buy now button for all of my friends that do not live close.  I will update that soon as well.  I have lots of new patterns that I am working with and just about any color you would want.

Thanks for looking and letting me vent.

Something special for my son.

Thought I would give an up date.  So we had the surgery and everything went well.  We are hoping for full Seminoma Cancer so that it will respond to radiation and not require Kemo.  We found out yesterday that it had spread to some lyphnodes how ever he may not have to have them removed depending on the type of cancer that it ends up being.  We still have to wait for the results on this.  We have our fingers crossed that all will be well, and everyone is keeping their sense of humor so we wait.
Thank you for looking and checking back with us.

So just a couple day ago we found out that our 20 year old son has testicular cancer.  Not exactly the greatest news for anyone to get.  Anyway he goes in this Monday morning to have one removed and find out how far it has spread in his body, if it has spread and what the next course of action is.  My sweet boy is so scared and I don't blame him, I think we all are.  He has the cutest little 7 month old little boy.

As we all know this kind of thing gets pretty expensive.  So I would love to help him with this expense by sell some of my jewelry.  I found a new item to make and they are very pretty.  They are the washer necklaces I'm sure many of you have seen.  I am asking 15.00 for each necklace so that I may donate 10.00 to his medical.  The other 5.00 is only to purchase more supplies to continue making more, and cover any shipping cost for any mail orders that I might receive.  Please feel free to request your favorite color.  If you are interested in placing an order with me please send me a message so that I can send you all the details.

Metal Plate

I found this adorable bronze square candle holder today.  I just had to buy it when I noticed that it was also made out of a light weight metal.  So I decided to put on of my favorite saying on it.  During this process I learned a valuable lesson about clicking the weld feature in SCAL.  It sure makes weeding a project much easier.  I thought this was very cool when I got done.
Center of this measures 6 x 6

Magnet boards

My new finished creation (or at least one of them) for this week is this awesome little magnet board.  A little history on me is I love teddy bears and butterflies.   So I created this SVG file that contained both.  Then I had to figure out what to do with it.  I have this problem a lot.   I remembered and extra piece of metal I had laying around after making a few other boards...still unfinished but hopefully this weekend...and thought it would be perfect!  Guess what it was!  The total piece measures  18.5 x 10 inches and the exposed metal measures 15.5 x 6.5 inches.  I also added some magnets that I made out these cute petal cut bottle caps and some regular ones just to add some pizazz!  What do you think?  Thanks for looking.
